Dog training - why the dogs pull on the leash and how to stop it

How can you choose a permanent laboratory owner in a group of dog owners?

Answer: The owner of the laboratory is that with a sling on his arm, an eye black and using crutches.

It's a bad joke that I used to say if ever I was doing one of my leash walking seminars. I used to do seminars on the leash walking and I always said this bad joke because of an incident that happened shortly after that I've opened my dog training company weekend.

You see, a Saturday afternoon I was finish day of education classes when a very nice lady came into my Office. It seemed that she was in a Rocky film. She had two huge black eyes, a piece of tape on his nose and his face was red and puffy.

I discovered that his face was puffiness from crying, she began to cry as soon as she walked in the door. She then told the story of his laboratory of large 90 lb of black that has been the cause of his injuries and his crying.

She then explained that she was about to take his dog to walk, something absolutely feared because it was such a horrible reel. He would drag around a 30 minutes and to take a market has been terrible.

She added that the other day, it was preparing to take him a walk. Just as she was about to leave the House of her husband called him. She stopped just as she walked through the door. His laboratory outside the House and she was still inside the House.

She was standing in the House holding the leash of his dog as he was outside, her dog saw a cat. His laboratory has seen the cat took off after it full speed. She had the loop of the leash around his wrist.

With the speed of a boat pulling a skier out of the water she was face first in the door, breaking his nose and injuring his wrist.

It was then that she started crying - she said that she loved his dog. It was soft, never chewed, never had any problems housetraining but she could not control him on the leash. He was everywhere and it became impossible to walk anywhere.
I assured him that she was in the right place and that we would get his dog walking on a leash in a short time. A few days later, she showed with his happy, excitable, strong laboratory and we started our training leash. I explained to him that the best place to begin training is to understand why dogs are certain behaviours.

When it comes to there are three reasons why the dogs pull. Once you understand what are the reasons that you can take steps to correct the problem. They are as follows:

Reason # 1: Your dog has no idea that they are supposed to walk next to you.

Reason # 2: Reflex of Opposition.

Reason # 3: Your dog is constantly rewarded for.

Therefore see the first reason why the dogs pull - your dog has no indication that it is supposed to walk at your side. When you put your dog on a leash your dog does not know he is supposed to walk politely by your side. Your dog sees a large world before him and starts to pull.

The second reason has to do with the reflex of the Opposition. When you apply pressure to your dog apply backpressure. Ever notice that you pull on the leash over your dog takes.

The third reason why your dog takes is simple. Your dog is constantly rewarded for. If your dog sees a fire hydrant, that he wants to study and you removed all the way it, your just dog was rewarded for traction. Not intentional on your part, but still winning.

Once you understand why your dog tire you can take steps to teach your dog to walk on a leash. I always taught that trick of walking a dog on a leash is to ensure that he does y no tension in the leaves.
